Wether you like yours warmed, toasted or just as they are; smothered with butter, jam or whichever spread your heart desires, these gorgeously spiced buns will no doubt cheer your soul and put a spring in your step at the right time of year.
Since having my little man I have had SUCH a sweet tooth and Im a sucker for puddings; crumble, I have found, is so so easy once you know how and makes a great after dinner treat and quick family recipe for when you haven’t got much time.
As Pancake day fast approaches the nation will be looking to their recipe books or phones for a basic pancake recipe; I can tell you that you don’t need to look any further than right here as believe me I have tried them all and this one is THE BEST pancake recipe EVER!
Do you have hoarded of Easter chocolate left over? Wondering what to bake with it? I don’t know if your kids are anything like mine and decide to open every singe chocolate egg and mini egg and jets about any foiled item available in a chocolate Easter frenzy?! The little man embarked on a de-foiling adventure around Easter and I was left with a whole bowl of random bits of chocolate that he had discarded along the way (also to attempt to get it out of his vision so that I could control his sugar intake!) As we had SOOOOO much chocolate I decided to get my bake on… Ive never been good at making brownies, they have always been either too dry or too runny and never have that luscious crispy top. But this time… miraculously… they worked!
I have been meaning to bake Biscotti for potentially around 6 months now loving a baking session, but after Christmas there are so many sweet treats left over there is no need!) My amazing Momma-migo (U think that should most definitely be a word… am I right?!) bakes them in batches and always has a tin of Biscotti at the ready for tea dunking. Her little man loves them and mine dives straight in whenever they are on offer, so I thought I’d give them a go. Now this Biscotti recipe is a twist on the Mary Berry one I have just added different ingredients to suit my personal taste; to be honest though they are so versatile you can chuck anything you want in there! I chose Chocolate and Walnut for the filing of my Biscotti and here is how the magic happened…
If you follow me you will know that I love a good ol’ baking session with my little man. The benefit of it being that I also get to eat what I create; win win. As the season of gluttonous goodwill approached I thought I would have a stab at Mince Pies. The seasons traditional sweet treat; along with many others that have entered my mouth already and will continue to do so until they stop selling them (Valentines? Easter maybe?) On perusing traditional recipes, I’m looking at you Delia, Mincemeat seems a horrendous faff so I decided to cheat and pick up some ready made stuff from my local LIDL as ‘Every LIDL helps’… right? Indeed it does. So here are my Mince Pie baking hacks with LIDL.
So Ive been experimenting with baking ever since becoming a Mama as Im sure that during birth there is this switch that suddenly clicks on in your brain that gives you the mama instinct to become a budding Nigella lawson or something?! Anyone else experienced this? I was truly terrible at all things backing in my no parenting days and suddenly now I find myself altering recipes, changing ingredients and writing my own recipes for you lovely peeps to enjoy with a cuppa! I love shortbread, the Starbucks choc chip variety are to die for, and have always hankered after getting mine just right.
I have always been a lover of baking, that is not to say that i could actually bake myself, quite the opposite. I was a terrible baker in the past, despite my purchasing of plentiful baking cookbooks and special silicone baking utensils. It was not until I became a mama that I weirdly became much more adept at cake-making, it was like some ‘mama instinct’ switch had suddenly turned on and I transformed into Martha Stewart
