Our first New Year’s Eve together: Photo Booth fun, fireworks and festivities

Culture

So it occurred to me this morning, as I was dragging my sleep deprived body to work at 5.30am in a hope that the fresh winter air would drive some degree of work ethic into my eyes so that they would remain open, that just one week ago was New Years Eve. Now this made me smile as this year was the very first year that me and my man have ever spent New Years Eve together. We are usually miles apart, separated by a guitar and a baby. The Mr is the guitarist in Rock of the Pops and I have stayed at home solo with the little man asleep all tucked up oblivious to the nights frivolities. This year, it was going to be different, the frivolities were to come in the form of photo booths, fireworks and fun.

New Year Resolutions: And the Christmas Mum bod guilt that forces us to make them

Musings

So a new year has begun, and what do we do now? You’ve de-Christmassed, made the living room look fresh, tidy and de-cluttered, finally got rid of all the lingering Christmas rubbish and are faced with the one thing that you cannot seem to get rid of: Christmas food! You feel like a stuffed turkey yourself but still the festive feast continues as you try and clear the leftover ham, trimmings, chocolate (OH the chocolate never ends…) from your cupboards and fridge so as not to be wasteful. The general feeling at this time of year for us most is one of bloated guilt and it leaves us craving vegetables and making all sorts of crazy and frankly unachievable New Years Resolutions relating to insane diets and exercise regimes that never make it past February.

Farewell 2016: Bring on 2017

Uncategorized

So lets just be honest here… unless you gave birth, became filled with baby, got engaged or married, been offered your dream job or anything of that joyful ilk… 2016 has been a pretty abysmal year for us all here in the UK hasn’t it? I mean Brexit… come on guys! What were you all thinking! Actually… for those who reside in the good ol’ US of A it has been even worse, at least we don’t have a clueless, fame seekingly obnoxious, orange clown leading our country down a dark, dark path of madness. The celebrity deaths and political insanity have meant that this year has been pretty rubbish to say the least. Only one good thing has come of this year, which has led to many good things…
