I have been scouring the web and asking for awesome Mamas to help me spread the news to the Motherhood Community that it is entirely and plausibly possible to maintain a sense of self after giving birth to our wee bundles of joy; Today I am so happy to be interviewing a fellow Rockin’ Mama who has thrown in the towel at her day job and has spread her wings and opened up a truly unique and amazing Coffee Shop that is one of a kind… The Kind Grind.
So the Summer Holidays are in full shwing… (yes… spelling mistake intentional… if you are a Wayne’s World fan you’ll know what I’m talking about…) and as we live in England it is undoubtedly going to be full of days where the weather decides to strike out full force and leave us bound to the confines of our homes. Do not fear mama! There are some amazing products out there that can keep the kids entertained to save you from the inevitable cabin fever that is to ensue! I think a winner is always going to be apps that you can access for free on your iPad or Tablet, and Vodafone have your backs…
Keeping your children safe and clean from germs and nasties, especially when still very little, is probably one of the most important things on your radar as a parent. It is often such a headache looking through different products and wondering which brand is the best to go for, but Milton has been the number one for sterilising for over 70 years and it is still going strong today. Changing with the times, from the age old ‘Sterilisation Tablets’, Milton have brought out new and exciting products to suit the modern times and I am lucky enough to be offering one of you a Milton Hygiene Kit of your own in this exciting Giveaway!
Since starting this Interview series to showcase some Rockin’ Mamas and how they juggle the immense struggles, and joys, of Motherhood, the pressure of being an entrepreneur and finding time for themselves, I have learnt an awful lot and been taken on some truly incredible journeys from women that are indeed rockin’ Mamahood! Today I have an interview with Laura Palin, the owner at My Rebel Family; a lush little clothing brand that caters for both Mother and bubba with edgy and unique designs. Laura has retained true to her self-identity after Motherhood through creating a business where she can express her creativity and fashion sense!
When you have the energy levels of a sloth finding motivation and learning how to motivate yourself can be an immense struggle. I have myself been known recently to have waning spirits and definitely been lacking in motivation to do pretty much anything, but this week I have boosted my ethos for life and bounced back (although Im not going to write an Alan Partridge like Auto-Biography about it…) There are sometimes, I admit it, times when it is entirely necessary to have that time to relax and let life wash over you; a break is totally amazing and super refreshing every now again (which is actually one of my points below…) but if you need to wake yourself up and shake that lethargic hole you have found yourself in, these tips will really help you through.
Staying sane on days in with kids, when the weather typically gets all English and rainy on our Mom asses is a trying feat indeed. The thought of staying indoors for an entire day, getting cabin fever with a cooped up child or children that crave your constant attention and won’t let you sit for longer than 5 minutes (Im probably being generous here…), can be terrifying. I often find that my little man is much happier and high spirited on days that we go on adventures, we are both entertained and the fresh air keeps us happy; when a downpour strikes it is always best to be prepared with some handy hacks to burn the hours and to avoid slipping into the otherwise unstoppable clutches of insanity!
I mean what Mama doesn’t need nifty hacks for keeping kids healthy during the Summer months? Wether you are surviving the school holidays or troublesome toddlers, it can be tough getting through the heat, keeping children entertained whilst trying to keep them healthy and yourself not feeling drained, exhausted and in need of an entire bottle of wine every evening! My little dude loves days out and can get pretty stir crazy if we keep him inside so we try and go on outdoors adventures frequently, but this does often mean that the heat and humidity can lead to tantrums and exhaustion and I never thought we’d be able to get through them without the lure os crisps and treats; but using these super easy hacks I have managed to survive the Summer months with a healthy troublesome two toddler and had fun along the way!
Do you find yourself in a slob like state when you have told yourself to have a ‘stress free day of doing nothing’ but then feel even more tired and lethargic? Do you feel like make stress is good for keeping yourself organised and on top of your game? So every week, as my regular readers will know, I post a *Musing* that I have been pondering at the time, and where at times they might touch upon issues that are affecting our country at the time or personal struggles that I am facing myself (Last weeks saw an amazing response so thank you so much if you had a read of ‘Learning to Open Up; Letting Down Barriers’), this week I am debating a issue that I think affects everyone at some point and definitely Mothers.
Wondering wether to brave going out without the pram? It is a question I have been asking myself frequently recently (See my *Musing* on this) as we enter the stage in our little mans life where he is becoming more independent and is wanting to roam free when we are out and about. The worry however, when you have a wild child like mine, is wether or not they will stay with you; will they just bolt? Will they come back when you ask them to? Will they understand what happens if they loose you? It has been a lengthy transition and we do still use the pram at times but I have learnt a lot and can offer you some top tips to hep you go it pram free!
So as some of my more regular readers and Instagram followers may already be aware of… this little fam have been on a bit of an emotional rollercoaster recently. Yes from the outside and fleeting glimpses it may seem like our life has been at an all time high; Our Wedding Day was spectacular, we recently went on our Honeymoon and I have been remaining a strong Mama by seeing friends, finding time for myself and hoping to inspire empowerment in the Motherhood community. However behind the scenes we have been dealing with demons and although I have briefly touched upon how this has made me feel, I have not opened up about the cause of these feelings. Well ladies and gents… today is that day.
As part of my quest to inspire Mamas to realise their potential to rock Mamahood whilst still being able to retain their own self identity and individuality, I started an interview series where I share the stories of fellow ‘Rockin’ Mamas’. Recently I have interviewed an array of fellow Mama Bloggers, including Vicki from Honesy Mum, Lauren from Dilan and Me and most recently Sophia from Tattooed TeaLady; Today I am interviewing not only a fellow Blogger but one that I have recently met in person at the fabulous BlogOn Conference in Manchester and she took me under her wing! I could not be happier that she has chosen to let me share her answers with you!
