Staying sane on days in with kids, when the weather typically gets all English and rainy on our Mom asses is a trying feat indeed. The thought of staying indoors for an entire day, getting cabin fever with a cooped up child or children that crave your constant attention and won’t let you sit for longer than 5 minutes (Im probably being generous here…), can be terrifying. I often find that my little man is much happier and high spirited on days that we go on adventures, we are both entertained and the fresh air keeps us happy; when a downpour strikes it is always best to be prepared with some handy hacks to burn the hours and to avoid slipping into the otherwise unstoppable clutches of insanity!
Although sometimes I do lust after a more carefree and possibly non-UK way of life, I am surprised and also so thankful for the places we have right on our doorstep. I like to find places to take the little dude in the surrounding areas near where we live in Hampshire that are low in cost and super fun; you can read all of my other reviews of amazing places right here on the blog too! Yesterday me and amazing fellow Mama Carly Stirling took the bambinos to The New Forest on an adventure through Bolderwood Deer Sanctuary; needless to say it was incredibly fun and exploratory for the kids and actually quite relaxing for us too!
So as some of my more regular readers and Instagram followers may already be aware of… this little fam have been on a bit of an emotional rollercoaster recently. Yes from the outside and fleeting glimpses it may seem like our life has been at an all time high; Our Wedding Day was spectacular, we recently went on our Honeymoon and I have been remaining a strong Mama by seeing friends, finding time for myself and hoping to inspire empowerment in the Motherhood community. However behind the scenes we have been dealing with demons and although I have briefly touched upon how this has made me feel, I have not opened up about the cause of these feelings. Well ladies and gents… today is that day.
So as some of you may have seen in my post ‘Bloggy Bride Gets Married!’… I got married recently! Really?!?!? Surely not?!? So in true post Wedding style me and the husband are jetting off to our favourite place (well… we like all things Italian… I have been to Italy but the Mr hasn’t!) on Friday to leave the English nonsense behind for a week and bask in newlywed bliss.
Familiar with the crippling feeling of being down? Need easy ways to lift your mood? Through the crazy rollercoaster that is parenting and Motherhood we all become incredibly susceptible to low moods and cabin fever; I know I have at least one day per week where I don’t want to leave my pyjamas or house! There are some simple ways that can really save you when times get hard and you find yourself lacking energy and motivation and they happen to be pretty easy, quick fixes too!
Organisation is key to living in a stress free and calming environment as a Mother; It is incredibly hard to retain order and serenity in a house that in unorganised. There are of course many other ways to relieve stress and live harmoniously when times get rough in the craze that is parenting, but being organised has got to be a great help hasn’t it? Hands up who cannot relax fully until their house is clean and tidy? Who feel much more at ease when they come home to a tidy house? How many of you let out a familiar sigh when they come home to piles of washing up, toys, paperwork and clothes? To help you stay organised yet retain your stylish flair, Uncommon Goods has an amazingly unique selection of quirky products.
After spending an afternoon wth my ‘very near to popping out a sprog’ friend, I realised that on reflection, society loves to inadvertently scare “Mothers to be’ with warnings and condescending comments about how terrible life will be for them after they give birth. This is definitely not right! I don’t think in all cases it is intentional and merely meant as innocent jibes. But these pokes of fun at a new Mother’s expense could really scare ‘Mothers to be’ and make them feel more overwhelmed that they actually need to be! We should be supporting them instead of poking fun surely?
All Mamas need a boost from time to time and these Movies are bound to make you happy! There are times when the crazy world of parenting just gets too much and it all comes tumbling down on top of us; when these moments strike I find a good movie can be the best cure (accompanied by copious amounts of ice cream and wine of course!) So after the kids are in bed, or napping, take some time out to chill and get lost in these uplifting and power fist worthy cinematic beauties.
The lovely fellow Becky over at Mommy and Rory has tagged me in her 10 Things That Make Me Happy; have a gander at her list too as its pretty good! (If you like Ryan Gosling then its well worth a peek for pure indulgence purposes!) I do love tags as its a great opportunity to spread the blogging love and sometimes a nice little raw peek into the person behind the blog! This tag in particular I am really happy to be part of as I think its essential to reflect on what makes us happy to boost our positivity and spirits!
Having kids means that the prospect of having a hangover and dealing with said kids whilst hungover makes you dread the actual night of drinking right?! But we NEED nights out with our friends, with our partner or with ‘the girls‘… it is necessary to let loose every now and again and have fun; if only for your sanity! We have all been there the next day though… and I’m certain children somehow know. Its like they purposefully go out of their way to make our decrepit, hungover selves feel 100% worse right?! Like a sixth sense. With my Birthday weekend approaching, and the prospect of a sever hangover by me and many of my friends, I wanted to share my wisdom on this subject to hopefully ease such days of hungover mess with children.
I think this has to be my personal gripe at the moment; men calling Women, Girls. To that mater even women calling Women, Girls. I think it is in some case innocently done and probably no harm is intended to the receiver of such an insult to their femininity but if we can spread the message that it is in fact quite wrong and pretty abysmal behaviour in the 21st Century to still be calling grown Women, Girls the maybe it will come to an end. Note: I am aware that that I may receive a fair amount of backlash from this weeks Musing as I know a lot of people think this is a pointless issue… but bear with me on this one…
Ever since starting Rock and Roses Mama I have been really keep to fully submerse myself into the blogging world and I am especially interested in attending events and convention to meet fellow bloggers in person, connect with brands and learn amazing skills. After popping myself on a waiting list for tickets for BlogOn MSI I was psyched when an email popped up one day saying that I had got a ticket! In one weeks time I will be attending BlogOn MSI in Manchester and I could not be more excited!
