So I have mused before about ‘Friendships after childbirth‘ and how they tend to shift; you will undoubtedly loose friends and your friendships and their boundaries will change. This is not to be seen as a bad thing however, and I wish that there had been someone around to tell me this before I gave birth, it is completely natural for certain friendships to be tested after a baby becomes part of them. It is easiest just to say goodbye to friendships that are not lasting through and welcome new ones; becoming a Mama necessitates making friends with fellow Mamas, it is of utmost importance to find your Mama tribe!
So International Womens Day has crept up on me this year and I have been thinking about how I can show my support and promote this years theme #beboldforchange when I realised I already do; by buying from independent businesses that are run by women, predominantly Mothers, and promoting their incredibly unique and empowering products. So I thought I would take this opportunity to share my most recent favourites with you all so that you too can support businesses run by women and #beboldforchange.
So as the season of good will approaches (rather fast I may add…) I am, in contrary to previous years of madly rushing around to grab last minute gifts, attempting to be a little more prepared and logical with my present buying. There are lots of great websites and products out there that are amazing for Moms and family buying, but I find that I get lost in buying for others that I don’t know what to say when someone asks me what I want! So… I have conjured a list of 10 of my favourite products and brands this year into this Rockin’ Mamas Christmas Gift Guide (hint hint) to inspire you!
As rockin’ Mamas we rarely have time to complete our pre baby ‘getting ready in the morning’ routine. However we most definitely deserve to feel awesome and to feel like we look fabulous. We are a busy bunch us Mommas and are all doing an epic job raising our wee bambinos; it goes without saying that sometimes life gets us down and we feel swamped by children. As the saying goes, if you look good you will undoubtedly feel good, so I have conjured a snappy lil list of easy hacks that I have found achieve that ‘I’m rocking Mamahood’ look, without really even trying too much!
So Im sure all of you have seen the massive ‘Flex Appeal’ campaign that Mother Pukka has started with ‘Work that Works’ at Digital Mums helping shift the ways of working for pregnant and returning to work moms; if you haven’t go check it out she is doing marvellous things and really raising awareness of some pretty shocking stats. It is a topic very close to my heart and affecting brilliant mommas around me.
So it has taken me a while to figure this out; this whole friendships after childbirth thing. I think I just always assumed that nothing would (or should) change with my circle of friends after I brought my little man into the world. I was wrong. It is a sad truth (bear with me… it gets better I promise!) that some people struggle to A. be around pregnant women and B. maintain friendships with women after they have children as they become ‘mothers’ and therefore cannot possibly go on nights out or have fun of any kind right?
