The Rock and Roses Mama household were kindly invited to sample the new menu at our local Carvery, The Inn By The Sea in Lee-On-Solent, that has recently been refurbished as a Stonehouse Pizzeria; as we are a family of foodies there was no doubt in my mind that we would accept and take Jude to test its ‘toddler-ability’ and family friendliness too! I was wary at first as Jude has recently been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder and it is sometimes a struggle taking him to places that can overstimulate him; but we are always determined to give things a go and so off we went, and we were all suitably impressed! Especially Jude when it came to that joyous time of… pudding!
So the Summer Holidays are in full shwing… (yes… spelling mistake intentional… if you are a Wayne’s World fan you’ll know what I’m talking about…) and as we live in England it is undoubtedly going to be full of days where the weather decides to strike out full force and leave us bound to the confines of our homes. Do not fear mama! There are some amazing products out there that can keep the kids entertained to save you from the inevitable cabin fever that is to ensue! I think a winner is always going to be apps that you can access for free on your iPad or Tablet, and Vodafone have your backs…
I mean what Mama doesn’t need nifty hacks for keeping kids healthy during the Summer months? Wether you are surviving the school holidays or troublesome toddlers, it can be tough getting through the heat, keeping children entertained whilst trying to keep them healthy and yourself not feeling drained, exhausted and in need of an entire bottle of wine every evening! My little dude loves days out and can get pretty stir crazy if we keep him inside so we try and go on outdoors adventures frequently, but this does often mean that the heat and humidity can lead to tantrums and exhaustion and I never thought we’d be able to get through them without the lure os crisps and treats; but using these super easy hacks I have managed to survive the Summer months with a healthy troublesome two toddler and had fun along the way!
Wondering wether to brave going out without the pram? It is a question I have been asking myself frequently recently (See my *Musing* on this) as we enter the stage in our little mans life where he is becoming more independent and is wanting to roam free when we are out and about. The worry however, when you have a wild child like mine, is wether or not they will stay with you; will they just bolt? Will they come back when you ask them to? Will they understand what happens if they loose you? It has been a lengthy transition and we do still use the pram at times but I have learnt a lot and can offer you some top tips to hep you go it pram free!
Although sometimes I do lust after a more carefree and possibly non-UK way of life, I am surprised and also so thankful for the places we have right on our doorstep. I like to find places to take the little dude in the surrounding areas near where we live in Hampshire that are low in cost and super fun; you can read all of my other reviews of amazing places right here on the blog too! Yesterday me and amazing fellow Mama Carly Stirling took the bambinos to The New Forest on an adventure through Bolderwood Deer Sanctuary; needless to say it was incredibly fun and exploratory for the kids and actually quite relaxing for us too!
We love a family day out in the Rock and Roses Mama household and after receiving a years membership to The National Trust we made it our mission to go on lots of adventures with our orange passes onto the wild! The summer months (I realise we in May and technically it should really be sunny right about now but the sunshine has not so much had ones hat on recently!) will make for much better experiences as most places are outdoors, but we thought we would give Hindhead Commons and The Devils Punch Bowl a shot in the questionable weather; and we loved it!
So its been a week since the Easter weekend and as I can’t exactly go all out spammy on my Instagram feed I thought I would share with you are marvellously sunshiny weekend of splendour! So without further ado I give you… Easter in the Rock and Roses Mama Household.
I have been part of the blogosphere for around 7 months now and it didn’t take long for me to become completely encapsulated with the amazing support of the blogging community. I discovered Lauren through my new venture into the online writing world and was enthralled by her gentle and gorgeous Motherhood blog and Instagram feed with her son Dilan. I must also note that she has recently embarked on an incredible company with her partner of Adam Robertson Photography (quite the blogging duo I must say…) empowering women through the message ‘We Are Enough’.
I have been in awe of Lauren’s work and am honoured that she has offered to take part in this series showcasing some seriously rockin’ Mamas!
I don’t know about you and your fam but my lovely men aren’t much for exploration of local parks in the winter months; much like bears they tend to hibernate inside and then emerge when the crisp goes from the air and the days are brighter. The summer holds so much more for us in terms of the great outdoors but I have been determined to get my little soldier out into the wild and run free. So last weekend we went for a springtime explore of our local ‘Stanley Park’.
I have always been partial to a diary; I tend to try not to use digital means too frequently for my day to day activities, just list making. No, your day to day life needs a good ol’ fashioned diary and so in contrary to previous years I sought out to find a ‘family’ diary that would help me organise my growing family and busy lifestyle. I had a look at a few styles but the exceptional reviews steered me towards the MUM’s Office brand. I ordered a snazzy burn orange number and waited impatiently for the post man to bring me my epic tool for rocking 2017 and truly getting organised.
