Now I LOVE Easter Weekend… it is always well celebrated in our household and unlike previous years where little man has not entirely understood the concept of searching the garden for eggs, this year he was ON IT! Easter Weekend also saw me and the husband celebrate our First Wedding Anniversary by taking a well earned getaway to Brighton, just the two of us. If you are familiar with my blog or know me personally, you will know that our honeymoon, although beautiful and stunning, was not the greatest of idyllic adventures due to personal circumstances. A weekend in our favourite British Town was perfect; as was coming home to a chilled Easter with our small dude and family.
So its been a week since the Easter weekend and as I can’t exactly go all out spammy on my Instagram feed I thought I would share with you are marvellously sunshiny weekend of splendour! So without further ado I give you… Easter in the Rock and Roses Mama Household.
Now everyone makes these slightly differently but my Easy Easter Chocolate Nests are made with shredded wheat; other options are of course cornflakes or rice crispies, but for the authentic ‘nest’ like appearance I think shredded wheat is best. I also like to top them with the traditional Easter pastel shades of mini eggs; they tend to taste fabulous too (any other mini egg addicts out there? Just me?) This is also a great recipe to get your kids involved with as, honestly, is so easy!
As I mentioned in my previous Easter post ‘A list of gorgeousness to make Easter special’ we are an Easter friendly household and have been back generations. My husband has never really experienced this in his family and was totally new to the idea of decorating for Easter, hinting for eggs and having special food with special easter cakes, hot cross buns a lovely roast lamb (not a while one obviously… that would be ridiculous…) Of course he was aware of things of this ilk but had never indulged of really thought much of it; when he got with me that all changed! One of the most important and undoubtedly delectable parts of Easter Sunday if the eggs, of course. So here are a list of the most beautiful Easter eggs I have found this year and where to find them.
Now I’m aware that to a lot of the population, Easter Sunday isn’t generally considered a special ‘thing’; like it’s not even anywhere close to being like Christmas Day. In our household however, we treated it as a similar entity, we always did! It was a generational thing; I remember seeing photos of my own Mama in my Nanas garden with a little basket and dressed up in her Easter Sunday best. There are also pictures of me and my sister egg hunting in my Nanas garden as I always remember my Mama putting up decorations the house; little pastel painted eggs, chicks and flowers and hiding eggs every Easter Sunday for us to collect in our special Easter baskets (My little sister is genuinely dressed as a bunny rabbit in one family photo!) So in attempt to spread the Easter joy I have created a list of gorgeousness with the help of Giftwink to make everyones Easter Sunday special!
